‘Luke Cage’: Marvel, Netflix In Talks To Make Misty Knight Spinoff Series? Simone Missick Keen

"Luke Cage" has yet to hit Netflix, but Marvel is already in talks with the streaming service to possibly produce a spin-off TV show centered on Misty Knight. Knight was introduced in 1975 and quickly became a fan-favorite among comic book readers. She is an African-American NYPD detective who was injured while thwarting a bomb attack.
Tony Stark stepped in and gave Misty a bionic arm. Hence, the character not only is trained in marital arts, but boasts of super-strength thanks to her bionic arm.
Simone Missick is set to introduce this powerful female character in "Luke Cage" in September this year. She will portray the first live-action adaptation of Misty Knight.
Knight is important to the story of Luke Cage since she was his love interest. In fact, she was also romantically involved with Iron Fist/Danny Rand (Finn Jones). Therefore, it makes perfect sense to include her in the story of the former convict-turned-superhero.

The Hollywood Reporter first broke the story that a potential Misty Knight TV show is in the works. The publication spoke to Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb on this subject, "We're very lucky in a sense that our casts are so rich and deep and so diverse," he told THR. "We certainly have plans for all of our characters. A lot of it has to do with exactly how many shows Netflix is actually going to let us make. We're up to six now."
The six series Loeb refers to are "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," "The Defenders" and the recently green-lit "The Punisher" spin-off series.
"At a certain point, we have to be careful that we're not becoming the Marvel channel on Netflix," Loeb jokingly said.

Jokes aside, the Marvel TV boss said that it depends entirely on Netflix since the streaming service is selective in the content they choose to produce. However, Loeb assured fans that Simone Missick has done a fabulous job in portraying the NYPD Detective. "I can tell you that what she's doing on 'Luke Cage,' it's just incredible. The fans are really going to love it," he said.
Missick is equally eager to star in her own TV series. "Somebody put it on Twitter that they want to see a Misty Knight series with Shonda Rhimes as one of the writers. I was like, 'Hell yeah,'" the actress chimed.
All 13 episodes of "Luke Cage" will be available for streaming on Netflix on Sept. 30.
