Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. The Rock, is performing a Haka in "Fast & Furious 8."

In a new video uploaded on the franchise's official YouTube channel, the 44-year-old actor reveals that his character Hobbs is going to perform a Haka with his daughter's soccer team in one the most refreshing scenes in the movie.

"So this is a very special day today. We are performing the Haka," Johnson says. "The scene opens up, it's my daughter's soccer team, and the game is tight, and we're looking to winning the game so we perform a Haka."

Haka is a traditional war cry, dance or challenge from the Māori people of New Zealand. It is basically a posture dance -- usually performed by a group -- with vigorous movements and stamping of the feet with rhythmically shouted accompaniment.

"In Polynesian culture, the Haka is very meaningful," adds the semi-retired WWE star, who also notes that the Haka they're performing for the film was personally written by the scene's choreographer. "Layne Hannemann wrote it and sent it down to New Zealand, so it was blessed by our elders.

"My biggest role here was to make sure that spiritual aspect was embedded into the people that I was teaching," Hannemann says in the clip.

For F. Gary Gray, who is directing the film, the Haka scene was a welcome change of pace on the set of the film which has been packed with so much action and explosions. "Crazy Haka dance -- this is one of my favorite moments in the movie," he says in the video.

Besides Johnson, "Fast & Furious 8" also stars franchise regulars Vin Diesel (Dominic Toretto), Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Chris "Ludacris" Bridges (Tej Parker), Elsa Pataky (Elena Neves), Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey) and Lucas Black (Sean Boswell).

Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Kurt Russell (Frank Petty) are also confirmed to reprise their characters. Charlize Theron is set to play the villain with Kristofer Hivju as one of her henchmen. Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren will also appear in the movie, which opens in theaters on April 14, 2017.
