While Google is rolling out the update for its Android Wear app, the tech giant has revealed that the Together feature will be terminated from the platform come Sept. 30.

Google embedded a notification to the recently launched update explaining why it decided to shut down the watch face feature that enabled Android Wear users to exchange emojis, sketches, doodles and photos with each other just like in a messaging app, as per 9to5Google.

In the notification, Google stated that the Together feature will be removed from Android Wear because it will be integrated directly into Android Wear 2.0.

Google also teased what the Together feature could do with Android Wear 2.0. With its new platform, Together will allow users to use the Smart Reply keyboard and get to choose from the numerous customization options for the watch faces that gather data from different apps.

Android Police noted that another reason why Google is shutting down Together at the end of September is to avoid redundancy with Android Wear 2.0.

It is still not clear whether Google plans to roll out Android Wear 2.0 on the same day that Together will be terminated from Android Wear. However, this is still unlikely to happen since the upcoming major update is still being developed.

The Developer Preview for Android Wear 2.0 is still stuck on the second release, and Google has announced that there will be four Preview releases before the official update rolls out.

Unfortunately, Android Wear 2.0 will not be available to all Wear devices, according to TechRadar. Thus, while many owners of the wearable would be pleased to receive the major update, some would be left with an outdated software version that is deprived of Together watch face features.

What's even worse is that future updates that would be available to Wear 2.0 will not reach first-generation Wear watches.
