Samsung Galaxy Note7 Vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus: Comparison Review of Specs, Features And More — Which Is Better?

Samsung already debuted the Galaxy Note7 early this week, while Apple has yet to take the wraps off of its iPhone 7 Plus. However, as early as now many consumers want to pit the smartphones against each other to know which phablet is better.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 is the successor to the the not-so-popular Note 5, while the iPhone 7 Plus is the new iteration of the iPhone 6s Plus, which also underperformed in terms of sales, as per BGR.

Interestingly, both devices come with the lucky number 7 as part of their names, suggesting that they could do better than their predecessors. And it would not be surprising if they did because both handsets offer redesigned bodies and upgraded specs and features.

The Galaxy Note7 comes with a dual-edge 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display that has 1440x2560 screen resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 panel for protection. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus is expected to arrive with 5.5-inch IPS LCD touchscreen display with 1080x1920 screen resolution and Ion-strengthened glass and oleophobic coating for protection.

The multitouch display panels of the handsets also come with special features — the iPhone 7 Plus has 3D Touch, while the Galaxy Note7 has an Always-on display.

When it comes to processing power, the Galaxy Note7 houses the top-of-the-line 64-bit Exynos 8890 Octa-core chipset, which is composed of a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Moongose and a Quad-Core 1.6GHz ARM Cortex-A53 CPU.

Contrariwise, the iPhone 7 Plus is going to arrive with Apple's all-new A10 processor and M10 motion-coprocessor — the combination of the two is said to be way powerful than the A9/M9 combo found in the previous iteration, according to Know Your Mobile.

Speaking of handset memory, the iPhone 7 Plus is coming with 2GB of RAM and 32, 128 and 256GB onboard storage variants. As for the Galaxy Note7, it was revealed that the device has 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. In this area, the Note7 has a big advantage since it has a microSD card slot for at most 256GB additional storage, while Apple is still not giving its new iPhone phablet storage space for memory expansion.

Camera-wise, both the Note7 and the iPhone 7 Plus are sporting 12-megapixel back cameras and 5-megapixel front-facing shooters. Both camera systems are said to be monsters when it comes to taking good quality pictures even in low light conditions. Based on track record however, Apple's cameras deliver better quality performance than Samsung's.

Both handsets also sport fingerprint sensors. But when it comes to the things that one has that the other doesn't, the Note7 comes with an S-Pen Capacitive Stylus, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 back panel, an iris scanner, USB Type-C charger and a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus has a 3D Touch Home button, Lighting charger and Smart Connector, Digital Trends noted.

If there is one thing that makes the iPhone 7 Plus a better next-generation iPhone than the Galaxy Note7 as the next-generation Note 5, it is the fact that the former will arrive with Apple's latest iOS 10. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note7 will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and users can only wait for the Android Nougat update.

While Samsung Galaxy Note7 obviously beats the Apple iPhone 7 Plus in many areas, CNET still believes that Apple's phablet is bound to perform well in the market just like Samsung's.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Note7 on Aug. 2, and it is expected to start shipping the device late August. On the contrary, Apple is reportedly launching the iPhone 7 Plus on Sept. 7 and will be releasing the device on Sept. 16.
