Is "iZombie" moving away from the procedurals?

During a group interview at San Diego Comic-Con last month, TVLine's Michael Ausiello asked the cast and executive producers of the CW series to drop a cool tease about the season 3 premiere of the zom-com-rom-dram, and it was Rahul Kohli who gave an interesting answer.

"The season 3 premiere takes place literally minutes after season 2, so it's a direct continuation from where we left," revealed Kohli who plays Ravi on the series, "And there's no ... procedural element to the first episode."

That revelation, however, doesn't necessarily mean that the "iZombie" is going to be a full-fledged serialized series next season.

"I think now that our show is going into the third season, there's room to shake the structure a little bit and play outside the box," Kohli's co-star Rose McIver told Comic Book Resources last March.

The 27-year-old New Zealand actress, however, noted that the show's procedural aspects will always be important to the premise of the program.

"There are certainly great things about it being a procedural as a device for her being able to eat those brains each week, and for it to hang on these very specific story hooks can be fantastic, too," she said. "I think it could kind of go either way at the moment, [but] I feel like story-wise and character dynamic-wise, relationship-wise, there's really, really interesting stuff coming to play with."

As revealed at Comic-Con, Liv will eat the brain of a dominatrix next installment. She and Major (Robert Buckley) will also eat the brains of a father and daughter; Liv will eat the father's brain while Major will eat the daughter's brain.
