Motorola's upcoming 5.5-inch Moto Z Play does not have a release date yet, but it is already making headlines after someone leaked images of its prototype which confirms that it has support for Moto Mods accessories.

On Thursday, snaps of the Moto Z Play's prototype landed online, with the photos showing the front, back and the right side of the device. Check out the snaps here

Based on the leaked images, the Moto Z Play will bear a resemblance to its already announced siblings, the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, in terms of design, as per GSM Arena

Interestingly, despite being the lowest-end offering among the three, the Moto Z Play will still come with support for the Moto Mods accessories as proven by the photo showing the Moto Mod connectors near the bottom of the handset's back.

The huge camera hump found on its siblings is also present at the back of the Moto Z Play. The back camera is rumored to be a 16-megapixel shooter with 4K video recording capability.

On the front, the device has a camera that is rumored to come with a 5-megapixel sensor. At the bottom is the fingerprint sensor which is not bordered by a metal frame.

Underneath, the handset is expected to be powered by either a 3,300 or a 3,510mAh battery. It is also rumored to be sporting a Snapdragon 625 processor, Adreno 506 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, according to TechnoBuffalo

The thing that sets the Moto Z Play apart from the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force is the 3.5mm headphone jack. The latter devices ditched the universal jack, while the Moto Z Play is said to come with this audio plug though the leaked photos do not show it, Phone Arena has learned.

The leaked images of the prototype come days after the Moto Z Play passed its TENAA certification and got its approval from the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

They also come more than a week after Android Authority reported that Motorola has confirmed that it will not be releasing monthly security updates for the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force.

Given the number of leaks featuring the Moto Z Play, it is safe to say that the handset will be launching soon.
