Former WWE star Adam Copeland, a.k.a. Edge, has been cast in a recurring role for season 5 of "Vikings."

According to Deadline, Copeland will portray Ketill Flatnose, a fierce and brave warrior, chosen by Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) to lead a Viking party intent on traveling to Iceland to set up a community there.

Copeland is the latest actor to join the cast of the historical drama. This past March, it was announced that Jonathan Rhys Meyers was cast as a series regular in season 5.

Series creator Michael Hirst, however, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter last March that Meyers' character will make his debut before the second half of season 4 ends.

"Yes, we introduce him [in season 4B] and set the scene for the next season," Hirst said. "He's going to be a major player. Personally it's exciting because it brings us back together from 'Tudor' times. Jonny's a great actor and another wonderful presence on screen, so I am thrilled that he's joined us and I can't wait to explore his character."

In addition to several WWE shows, Copeland also starred as Dwight Hendrickson on Syfy's "Haven"  from 2011 to 2015. His other TV credits include "Private Eyes," "The Flash" and "Sanctuary," among many others.

As revealed by the "Vikings" cast at San Diego Comic-Con last month, production on season 5 has already started. It's unclear, however, whether the upcoming season will be the show's last, but Hirst has been very vocal about his plans to continue the series even after the predetermined death of the show's lead character, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel).

"I always anticipated continuing with Ragnar's sons because many of them became as famous, if not more famous, than he was," Hirst told Radio Times last year. "There was the rather remarkably named Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) and Ragnar's elder son [Bjorn] (Alexander Ludwig) who sailed around the Mediterranean, and then they went to Iceland and Greenland."
