"Supergirl" fans will see less of Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) in the upcoming season 2 of the CBS-turned-CW series.

Flockhart is set to reprise her role as Kara's (Melissa Benoist) boss in the show's sophomore run but in a reduced capacity. The 51-year-old actress was a series regular in season 1, but after the production of the show moved from Los Angeles to Vancouver, she and Warner Bros TV. reached an agreement that she will return for season 2 as recurring guest star.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the "Ally McBeal" alum will appear in multiple episodes beginning with the season 2 premiere. She will join production in Vancouver next week.

Deadline reported that keeping Flockhart onboard with the new filming location had been an issue as she was not willing to move with her family from Los Angeles to Vancouver. Although she was not obligated to continue, Flockhart decided not to quit, so the studio will fly her to Vancouver every few weeks or so.

"'Supergirl' wouldn't be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant," said "Supergirl" executive producer Andrew Kreisberg in a statement. "We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen."

Meanwhile, Cat's reduced appearance next season won't be hard to explain story-wise as Kara got promoted at the end of the season 1 finale.

"You'll definitely see Cat Grant [in season 2] but she was very effective by her interactions with Supergirl last year," "Supergirl" executive producer Sarah Schechter said during a roundtable interview with /Film at San Diego Comic-Con last month. "Also Kara not being her assistant, you wouldn't see her as much. It's that weird thing when you get promoted and you see your old boss less. There is still Cat Grant. She is not going anywhere."
