Apple just released the new Apple TV Remote app for iPhones!

Instead of the touchpad remote, the new Remote app allows users to control the Apple TV. It also replaces the previous Remote app, which lacked support for some of the new features of the fourth-generation Apple TV.

Unlike the previous app, the new app is only available for iPhones and the iPod touch. It doesn't have an optimized version for iPads, according to 9To5Mac

This is also a handy software option for people who have lost their Apple TV remote, which costs $79 to replace, as pointed out by Bloomberg.

One of the most important features of the Apple TV Remote app is that Siri is fully integrated into it. Users will be able to give Siri voice commands through their iPhones instead of the TV remote.

The onscreen user interface allows users to navigate through the app a lot faster and easier using swipe gestures.

In addition, the app lets users type in text using the screen keyboard, which is a tedious task when using the Apple TV remote's touchpad.

The app will also allow users to control the volume by pressing the iPhone's volume up and down buttons, at least for those whose TVs come with CEC support.

The fourth-generation Apple TV is also the first model to come with gaming capabilities. With the new Apple TV Remote app, people will be able to use their iPhones to play games using the built-in accelerometer and gyroscope sensors.

The app also has a Game Mode feature. This simplifies the game controls by letting users set onscreen controls instead of having to use the iPhone's sensors.

The new Apple TV Remote app is now available in the App Store and is only compatible with devices running on iOS 9.3.2 or later. Users must also make sure that their Apple TV is running tvOS 9.2.1 or later in order to use the app.

The app also works on second- and third-generation Apple TVs, according to Engadget.
