Apple has so many products to launch before this third quarter ends; one of them is said to be the Apple Watch 2, which has been designed to be "slightly less heavy" than the first iteration.

The main reason why the Apple Watch 2 will shed off little weight is the Cupertino giant's decision to scrap the Glass on Glass solution for the display of the smartwatch, according to Yahoo! Tech

Apple will instead manufacture the second-generation Apple Watch with One Glass Solution (OGS); hence, the display would be thinner and the device would weigh less than its predecessor.

However, it is not clear if the new Apple wearable would indeed be lighter, since there are also reports stating that the thinner display would allow Apple to incorporate a sightly larger battery pack into the device.

In June, there was a rumor that Apple also had planned on replacing the OLED display of the Apple Watch with Micro LED technology, as per BGR

The Micro LED technology would be a big help to the smartwatch, since it could increase its battery life while still providing top quality resolutions with richer color.

However, it was found out that the Micro LED would not be used by Apple until 2017, so Apple Watch 2 will most likely launch with OLED display.

TPK Holding, Apple's display panel supplier, and other partners of the Cupertino giant have said that the Apple Watch 2 will be announced this fall, SlashGear has learned.

Therefore, it is very possible that Apple would unveil the Apple Watch 2 to the public during its September event in which it is also launching the iPhone 7 and the bigger variants of its iOS-running smartphone.

Meanwhile, previous rumors claim that the Apple Watch 2 will arrive with an LTE chip, a camera for FaceTime, a GPS chip and a custom S2 processor.
