Malcolm-Jamal Warner has been a fan of "Suits" long before he landed the role Julius in season 6 of the hit legal drama series. In fact, he's been a Suitor right after reading the script for the show's pilot."
"I really dug the pilot," Warner, who auditioned for the show four times, told USANetwork.com. "I just thought it was a really cool concept. Of course, that was the pilot script, so that was before anybody was actually cast. Then, when the show aired and I saw how the production was put together, it was just a really cool, slick show. Everybody's stylin'! I really dug the actors; I found myself engaged in the characters."
The 45-year-old actor told Entertainment Weekly that before he was cast for the role of Julius, he tried out for the roles of Jimmy (Pooch Hall), Kevin Miller (Erik Palladino) and Jeff Malone (D.B. Woodside), who was Jessica's [Gina Torres] former romantic interest. "I was just dying to play opposite Gina," he said.
Although Warner definitely had an advantage from other auditionees for being a fan of the show, he admitted that his first day on set was bit of a challenge because the fan inside him affected the decisions he made as an actor.

"The first day of work was a little more challenging than I had anticipated," he told Yahoo TV. "I'm a fan of the show, I'm a big fan of Mike Ross, and I like Patrick [J. Adams] a lot. I know Mike Ross was bad, but I loved the fact that he is so good at what he does."
"There was a lot of that that I had to push through, say [to myself], 'Okay, well, Julius doesn't necessarily feel the same about Mike as Malcolm does. I think I might be liking him too much,'" Warner said, laughing. "I think you don't realize how much it'll affect you until you actually get into doing the work."
