"Homeland" is doing a few additions and changes to its cast for season 6. The Showtime series has recruited "House Of Cards" actress Elizabeth Marvel to play the first female President of the United States Of America, TVLine reports.

Marvel played the role of Heather Dunbar, a former democratic candidate for the 2016 Presidential Elections, on "House Of Cards" season 4. Marvel's character on the Netflix series was a morally upright and principled woman who lost the Democratic nomination due to a scandal.

On "Homeland," Marvel will play Elizabeth Keane, a former junior Senator from New York. She is described as a bright, charming and lively person. However, if the situation demands it, she can be blunt.

Marvel's other TV credits include "Law & Order: SVU," "Person Of Interest" and "Fargo."

This latest casting news comes soon after the political thriller is recasting Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) daughter, NuFranny. She will be about four years old in season 6 and is set to get a meatier role. She will be an important character.

Showtime is looking for a girl in the prekindergarten age range who looks a lot like Damian Lewis.

Furthermore, Rupert Friend has been cast as a series regular in the upcoming season which means "Homeland" fans will see a lot of his character Peter Quinn. Contrary to what was shown in the season 5 finale, it seems like his character did not die. However, in what state Quinn will come back from his coma remains to be seen.

Shooting for "Homeland" is scheduled to take place in August 2016. The TV show returns in January 2017 rather than this fall (as is the norm in the past five seasons).
