'America's Got Talent' Season 11 Recap: 5 Acts Sent Home During First Live Show
"America's Got Talent" season 11 aired its first live show on Tuesday night.
Twelve different acts performed in front of judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel for a chance at winning one million dollars.
However, only seven of the 12 acts will advance to the next round of the competition.
The five acts that didn't make it through included 90-year-old burlesque dancer Dorothy Williams, Japanese illusionist Hara, 17-year-old crooner Daniel Joyner, video mapping dance duo Sila Sveta and dance group the Outlawz.
Dorothy Williams
Williams performed another dance number in front of the large crowd at the Dolby Theater. Even though she received praise from all four judges, Williams couldn't beat the other seven contestants who made it through to the next round.
Hara
Hara even brought his mom on stage for his routine. However, the judges felt that he could have given more during his performance.
Daniel Joyner
Joyner sang his heart out and dedicated his performance to his girlfriend. However, some of the judges said that they felt bored watching him. Cowell also said that Joyner made a mistake with his song choice.
Sila Sveta
Sila Sveta also failed to impress all four judges following their routine. Most of them commented that they were expecting more from the video mapping duo. Cowell also said that he hated their entire concept.
Outlawz
The Outlawz also fell short of the judges' expectations. Since they did an amazing job in the Judge Cuts round, all four judges said that they were expecting to see more from the group. Cowell gave the dance crew a red buzzer during their performance. Mel B nitpicked on one of the members' dance skill.
Meanwhile, the top 7 contestants that made it through included Laura Bretan, Jayna Brown, Deadly Games, Jon Dorenbos, Lori Mae Hernandez, Musicality and Tape Face.
"America's Got Talent" season 11 airs Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
