"Suits" fans will get to know more of Malcolm-Jamal Warner's character in upcoming episodes of season 6.
Warner -- who plays Julius Rowe, Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) prison counselor on the hit legal drama -- revealed to Entertainment Weekly that viewers are going to learn more about his character's past as the current installment progresses.
"There's an upcoming episode where Julius is actually sharing more of his story and sharing more of himself with Mike and we find out some more about Julius' past," the 45-year-old actor said, before revealing that Julius himself also had a therapist before.
As for why his character begins opening up to Mike, the "Cosby Show" alum said: "The thing that Julius realizes as a counselor -- having been on both sides as a therapist and having had a therapist earlier in his life -- the way to get through to someone is by opening up to that person about yourself."

As a result, Julius and Mike's relationship will get a little deeper. "We do see that there is another level that their relationship will go to," Warner said.
When asked to tease his character's past, Warner said, "Julius had a wayward past. It was his experience with a counselor that made him turn his life around. It's one of the reasons why he has become a counselor-therapist himself, because of the wayward life he was living initially."
Although Julius' storyline remains strictly in the confines of the prison at the moment, he's positive that there may be an opportunity in the future for his character to interact with other "Suits" characters.
"I would love that," he told Entertainment Tonight. "There can always be an angle, based on the work that Mike and Julius have done, that Mike still wants to be able to use Julius as a sounding board without it having to be as formal as him being his prison counselor."
"Suits" airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. on USA Network.
