(Photo : NetherRealm Studios/Warner Bros./Twitter) "Injustice 2" is Ed Boon's next big game, so he took Comic-Con by storm with character teases and costume improvements for certain fighters. It was also said that a "Mortal Kombat X" update is coming soon. "Injustice 2" is projected to release in 2017.

"Injustice 2" and "Mortal Kombat X" director Ed Boon as it at again with new teases from San Diego Comic-Con. During a recent panel, he talked about possible new characters, costumes and even "Mortal Kombat" news.

The details arrive at Design & Trend via Comic Book Resources' take on the "Injustice 2" panel. During it, Boon touched on the aforementioned topics

First and foremost, no discussion with Ed is complete without a few fresh character teases to get fans riled up. Among the mentioned list of DC superstars were the Flash's arch nemesis, Zoom, as well as Beast Boy, Red Hood and Suicide Squad members. Specifically, his words were that there's "absolutely a chance" for Zoom and that the Suicide Squad "may also show up, not just in DLC." Boon merely polled the audience about Beast Boy and said that Red Hood has been requested as much as Blue Beetle. Beetle was revealed for the game during the panel.

As it stands right now, the character roster for "Injustice 2" is expected to include close to 30 different fighters. Many of those options were fan-favorite requests. "I bet if you guessed 10 characters you thought would be in the game, you'd probably get seven," Boon joked. That's obviously a good sign for folks that haven't seen their favorite hero or villain mentioned here.

One of the biggest draws for "Injustice 2" is its reliance on a new loot and character progression system. In tandem with that will be special costume customization choices. Ed mentioned that certain roster members will have outfits that unlock totally new abilities. This has lead to a rise in speculation that more niche DC personalities, like Power Girl, might have a partial cameo in the 2017 game by offering a new spin on the Supergirl moveset.

Outside of the panel were allusions about the future of "Mortal Kombat X." While Boon previously hinted big news for the title during EVO 2016, the tournament came and went without as much as a peep. The studio director contends that that statement will be publically explained soon. As of right now, theories exist about a third DLC Kombat Pack, a "Mortal Kombat X" PC update or a final balance patch to solidify the existing experience.

"Mortal Kombat X" is available now and "Injustice 2" is scheduled to hit store shelves in 2017. Both titles can be played on PS4, Xbox One, PC and mobile devices.

What do you think of the "Injustice 2" character roster so far? Do you like the thought of abilities linked to costumes? What will the big "Mortal Kombat X" update be? Tell us in the poll and comments section!
