(Photo : Syfy/Carole Segal) Syfy released the opening scene for "The Magicians" season two.

Syfy's "The Magicians," which is about students at a magical school, isn't returning until 2017, but the cast and crew are hard at work shooting season two.

When the Syfy series finished season one, Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) and his friends were in Fillory, the magical land from the "Fillory And Further" book series, to fight The Beast. Julia Wicker (Stella Maeve) disappeared with him after making a deal, and Quentin was left to wonder where they went.

The opening scene of season two has been released, as well as a behind the scenes video showing the filming process, which you can watch below:

Here are three things we learned from these sneak peek videos:

1) The "Hansel And Gretel" Witch Shows Up

The opening scene of season two sees Quentin running through a forest, yelling for help. He comes across a little cottage, with giant lollipops sticking out of the ground in front of it. The woman who opens the door assumes that Quentin is being chased, but he says he's not.

Quentin realizes that the place he's at looks familiar from a famous fairy tale.

"It's just, where I come from, there's a legend about a witch with a cottage made of candy," he says.

The woman replies, "Well, the cottage is mostly made of wood, and I'm more of a healer and gardening enthusiast."

When Quentin asks for help, the woman wants something in return. When he says she "would be helping the next High King of Fillory," she wants a vial of his blood.

Quentin takes the deal when he sees that she's the only one nearby that can help him.

Since she is supposedly the "Hansel And Gretel" witch, he should be very wary about what she does.

2) The Brakebills Library Set Has Been Used Before

Ralph and Maeve take us on a tour of the Brakebills library in the behind the scenes video and reveal that this set has been used on the show before.

Ralph says, "This set...you saw it in episode one as the lab. It's been classrooms. It's been two different libraries. It's been Brakebills South. I think you probably wouldn't recognize it had I not just said that."

Maeve calls production designer Rachel O'Toole "amazing" for designing this and other sets for the show.

3) The Throne Room is Alive

In the behind the scenes video, production designer Rachel O'Toole shows off concept art for the Throne Room in Fillory, which will be the big set for the season. One of the concept art pieces is a wide shot of the room.

She says, "This will be your big point of view. It's huge. It's 5,000 square feet."

O'Toole also reveals that the set is "partially alive" and adds, "The materials here in Fillory are thinking for themselves. They kind of cohabitate with the will and the mind and the spirit of the person who lives in the Throne Room. But it's just one of those things that will remind you that you're in a different magical place."

"The Magicians" returns in 2017 on Syfy.
