"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 recently cast "UnREAL" alum Nathalie Kelley to play the recurring role of Sybil.
While at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, executive producer Julie Plec opened up about the character, described as "evil herself," and said that Sybil is their new take on villains in the upcoming episodes.
Even though the exec failed to give any more details about the character at that time, TV Line has already reported that Sybil is a highly manipulative character who enjoys seeing other people get tangled up in her twisted games.
However, underneath her evil persona, Sybil is someone who simply wants to be loved.
At that time, it was also announced that season 8 will be the last installment of the hit The CW series.
The news no longer came as a surprise to fans and members of the press because Plec previously said that if Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley are ready to leave, she will leave the franchise with them.
Meanwhile, Plec also told the publication a few months ago that she plans to invite Nina Dobrev back to the series for its final episode.
Even though Dobrev hasn't confirmed her return to "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 just yet, Plec is confident that the actress will agree to do so.
"It's what she and I kind of agreed on when she decided to move on, and it's what I've got in my head. Obviously things can change throughout time, if the show goes on longer than we expect it to, or if we all collectively decide it would be fun to bring her back earlier, and she wanted to... I'm sticking with my side of the plan, which is to bring her back at the very end," she said.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8, episode 1 will air on The CW on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
