"Castle" alum Nathan Fillion recently opened up about what could have been in store for fans had the ABC series been picked up for a ninth season.
While promoting "Con-Man" at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con, Fillion told TV Line that "Castle" season 9 would have kicked off with a time jump, especially if Stana Katic's Kate Beckett will no longer be around.
"Yeah, they were talking about a time jump. I think they're reserving their plans for when we actually get the pickup. But when we didn't get the pickup, that's when they stopped making the plans," he said.
Meanwhile, Fillion was asked if it was difficult for him to not be able to say a proper goodbye to the fans, especially since there were some expectations that "Castle" would be picked up.
"No, what is a proper send off? We had eight years of a phenomenal television show with amazing people that I love so very, very much. I'll miss them dearly, I'll miss the characters they play, but at the same time it's been eight years since I haven't had a plan. The Comic-Con marks what would've been the end of my haitus," he said.
In other news, Fillion was asked to reveal his favorite memory from all of the seasons that he's been in "Castle."
The actor had a difficult time naming a specific memory, saying that everything was memorable for him.
At one point, he said that he had the most fun doing the episode where Rick and his friends were able to solve a murder in a funny, but very dramatic way.
Fillion's "Con-Man" co-star Alan Tudyk added that he had a fun time watching the rear window episode because it had a lot of physical comedy.
"Castle" season 8 aired its last episode sometime in May.
