Although many Marvel fans expected the pop culture giant to unveil a trailer of its upcoming Netflix series, "Luke Cage," few expected a sneak peek footage of its other TV show, "Iron Fist."
Starring "Game Of Thrones" actor Finn Jones as Danny Rand, "Iron Fist" tells the story of Rand's return to New York City after he went missing several years ago. The show will depict Rand's superhero alter-ego, Iron Fist, fight crime and corruption in New York City. Danny Rand battles villains thanks to his incredible Kung-Fu mastery and the ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist.
Watch the show's first look below:
Here are three things we liked about the new teaser trailer:
3. It gives a sneak peek at his tragic past
Although there are multiple origin stories of Iron Fist, all of them involve a tragic past. Rand's parents die tragically, leaving him lost. He masters Kung-Fu in the Asian city of K'un-Lun. There, his master, Lei Kung the Thunderer, helps him learn martial arts and the ability to focus all his energy into his fist.
The trailer clearly shows a younger Rand with his mother in a plane crash.
2. First look of Danny Rand's fiery Iron Fist in action
In the trailer, Finn Jones' character easily breaks through a concrete wall, giving us a glimpse of his awesome, fiery iron fist!
1. It stays true to the character of Iron Fist
In the comics, Rand is often portrayed as a laidback character with an easygoing persona. The fact that he arrives to the Big Apple without shoes and a disheveled look indicates that the series will stay true to his character.
Apart from Finn Jones, "Iron Fist" also stars Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, David Wenham as Harold Meachum and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. Additionally, Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise her "Jessica Jones" role as lawyer Jeri Hogarth.
"Iron Fist" will be available for streaming on Netflix in 2017.
