It looks like the final installment of the "Divergent" series will be coming to a television near you. New reports have revealed that the blockbuster saga that stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort will go straight to TV.

According to Us Weekly, reports from sites like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that the third film of the series, "Allegiant" flopped at the box office only making $66 million in the USA.

Check out these five things we know about the final film "Ascendant."

1. Disappointing sales helped make the decision to turn the final film into a TV movie.

In 2014, it was announced that the third book of Veronica Roth's bestselling trilogy would be split into two movies following in the footsteps of films like "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight." "Ascendant" was scheduled to hit theaters in June 2017, however, Lionsgate, decided to reevaluate its options for release after the box office flop.

2. There may be a "Divergent" TV series.

Lionsgate is expected to conclude the series with a television movie that will lead to a TV show in the futuristic dystopian Chicago. The plan is to bring back the original cast (Woodley, James, Teller and Elgort) for the final installment of the movie and introduce new characters who will reprise their roles on the show.

3. None of the cast members have signed on for the final movie.

There is no word on who will return for the film. Shailene Woodley, Theo James. Miles Teller and Ansel Elgort have yet to sign contracts and no one knows if they will.

4. Filming has been pushed back.

"Ascendant" was expected to begin filming this summer in Atlanta however, seeing as there isn't an official cast for the film, shooting has been pushed back.

5. Don't expect to see Shailene Woodley and Theo James on the "Divergent" television series.

Although the "Divergent" movies helped build their careers, it is expected that the two main stars of the movies, Woodley and James will opt out of reprising their roles in the TV series.
