(Photo : Square Enix/Disney/Facebook) "Kingdom Hearts III" job postings suggest that the game's release date could be in 2017. Listings show that Square Enix is looking for a lighting artist that can help with general post-production tasks. "Kingdom Hearts III" is in development for PS4 And Xbox One.

"Kingdom Hearts III" might just have a 2017 release date if new job postings from Square Enix are any indication. It's suggested that the game is or will soon be entering the post-production phase.

The news comes to Design & Trend via Japanese job listings at Square Enix as translated by KH13. While not an official confirmation of anything, there's an insinuation here about where "Kingdom Hearts III" is in its development cycle.

The most recent listings include four different job titles to be filled within the developer's Osaka team that's currently working on "Kingdom Hearts III." The offerings include an assistant director, effect designer, production planner and lighting artist. The most important member of that quartet is the latter one. The position's duties are said to include "working on 'Kingdom Hearts III's' lighting and general post-production." If Square Enix is currently seeking employees to handle those sorts of tasks, then logic implies that that complete state of development can't be too far off.

This assumption has led some diehard franchise fans to suggest that "Kingdom Hearts III" could release this year. If the game is nearly finished and ready for the rigorous testing that post-production entails, a year and a half of that to meet a fall release deadline seems plenty reasonable enough.

That being said, there are a few caveats to consider here. The fact that an assistant director and production planner are also being considered is just as much a sign that the project may not be as far along. On the flipside of that, however, maybe the "Kingdom Hearts" team is looking for these crucial production employees because they're ready to begin working on whatever the group's next project will be. Again, because job listings are so far from the realm of official announcements, it's hard to determine much. The only thing we can say is that "Kingdom Hearts III" post-production is at least on the horizon.

Past interviews with "Kingdom Hearts III" director Tetsuya Nomura once implied that the game was in a more polished state than fans may be expecting. This mention of post-production duties is yet another signal of that fact. This news bears a striking resemblance to calls for a marketing employee for "Final Fantasy XV." With those sorts of hires on the table, it clued us in on the game's impending release. Square Enix also has an internal mandate of only offering a release date once a certain completion threshold has been passed.

Before "Kingdom Hearts III" arrives, Square Enix has to ship "Kingdom Hearts 2.8" later this year. For all intents and purposes, the compilation game acts as the final narrative prologue leading up to the third main installment. With that game coming out in a couple months, bringing "Kingdom Hearts III" to market in late 2017 makes a lot of sense.

"Kingdom Hearts III" is in development for PS4 and Xbox One.
