One of the new villains that will be terrorizing Beacon Hills in the upcoming season 6 of "Teen Wolf" are the Ghost Riders. Although these characters were mentioned by Lydia (Holland Roden) in last year's summer finale while researching about the ancient myth Wild Hunt, little is known about these mythical figures. So to give fans some background about these new baddies, showrunner Jeff Davis and series star Tyler Posey talked to Entertainment Weekly to preview these new threats to Scott (Posey) and his pack.
"The idea is that the Wild Hunt passes through your town and if you see the Ghost Riders, they'll take you with them and make you part of the hunt," Davis said. "They pick up the dead as well. They serve different mythological functions, but for [the show], they bring a lot of danger to Beacon Hills when this storm of Ghost Riders gets stuck."
Unlike previous "Teen Wolf" villains, Davis revealed that there's unlimited number of Riders. Posey also added that the Riders "have this power that nobody else has ever had on the show before."
The 24-year-old actor, who plays Scott McCall on the series, also revealed that the Riders are just "henchmen."

"They're in Beacon Hills for a certain reason, not because they want to be, so all of the bad stuff that they're doing to the town is kind of just a consequence of them being there when they don't want to be," Posey said. "Every other villain on our show wants something and has an evil goal. Theo [Cody Christian] wanted to be the alpha, the Dread Doctors wanted to create the Beast, and so these guys don't really have a goal."
Davis also said that the Riders are less violent than most "Teen Wolf" villains. "Our mythologies tend to get pretty bloody. [But season 6] is surprisingly one of the less bloody seasons of 'Teen Wolf,'" he said.
However, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Riders are less scary. "They're not nice-looking. They're f--king horrifying," said Posey. Click here to see the first-look photo of the Riders.
More details about the Riders and other villains of the forthcoming season are expected to be revealed at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday, July 21 at 4:30 p.m. PT at San Diego Convention Center Ballroom 20.
