Telltale Games has announced that the first episode of "Batman - The Telltale Series" will be released digitally on Aug. 2 for consoles, PC/MAC and mobile devices.
In addition, Telltale also released the first trailer for the game, showing some of the gameplay as well as hints about the story.
The trailer opens with Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred telling him that he can't keep being Batman and advising him to "step out of the shadows."
Alfred then reminds him that there's room for both Bruce and Batman inside the suit.
The trailer also shows some of the major characters that will be part of "Batman - The Telltale Series" including Harvey Dent (prior to becoming Two-Face), Gotham Gazette journalist Vicki Vale, crime boss Carmine Falcone, GCPD commissioner Jim Gordon and Selina Kyle/Catwoman.
"Enter the fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne and discover the powerful and far-reaching consequences of your choices as the Dark Knight," Telltale Games said. "You'll make discoveries that will shatter Bruce Wayne's world, and the already fragile stability of a corrupt Gotham City."
The first episode is titled "Realm of Shadows," Telltale said on its website.
Telltale will also be releasing a physical special Season Pass disc on Sept. 13 in the United States, and it will include the game's first five episodes. Players who buy the disc will have instant access to the game's subsequent four episodes as they become available online.
The special Season Pass disc will be available in Europe on Sept. 16.
Design & Trend reported earlier this week that Telltale Games will be at the San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, July 23, and fans will be able to try out the game for themselves during the event.
Telltale Games has been known for its impressive combination of storytelling and gaming. Unlike most games, Telltale's are tailored to the choices that players make.
This decision-based gameplay is Telltale's signature role-playing experience and has proven to be quite successful with games like "The Walking Dead", "Game of Thrones", "The Wolf Among Us" and "Minecraft: Story Mode."
