"Fear the Walking Dead" star Michelle Ang has snagged her first Emmy nomination last Thursday morning, and it's something that she didn't expect.

"Whoa!! Just got off call from my team.. we have an #Emmys2016 nomination for Alex in @FearTWD #flight462 #mindblown #EmmyNominations WHAAAT," Ang tweeted after learning that she's nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for her performance as Alex on the web series "Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462."

The 32-year-old Kiwi actress is facing some stiff competition from Patrika Darbo ("Acting Dead"), Erinn Hayes ("Childrens Hospital"), Janet Varney ("Everyone's Crazy But Us") and Tracie Thoms ("Send Me: an original web series"), who are all nominated in the same category.

Thrilled with the recognition, Ang took to Twitter to thank all those who have congratulated her. See some of her posts below:

After "Flight 462" ended its 16-part run, Ang reprised her role as Alex in two episodes of the second half of "Fear the Walking Dead" season 2. She was last seen in episode 5, titled "Captive," where she was reunited with Travis (Cliff Curtis) while he was locked up on Connor's (Mark Kelly) ship. She revealed to Travis that Connor rescued her after Jake (Brendan Meyer) died. She also blamed Travis for being cut away from The Abigail, which felt like a death warrant to her.

Sadly for Ang's fans, Alex might not show up on the series ever again. When asked by Entertainment Weekly if fans will see Alex again, showrunner Dave Erickson said: "That is an excellent question. The second most enigmatic character, I think, on the show after Strand, is Alex, and she definitely isn't going to stick around. She's basically done the work she wanted to do. I don't imagine her continuing to stay, and she says she's not going to work for Connor. She accomplished what she wanted. I expect that she's bound to venture back off into the apocalypse, so you don't see her end. There's always that possibility."
