On "Famous," Kanye West infamously raps, "For all my southside n****s that know me best, I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex."
According to Kanye West, Taylor Swift knew about the lyric before "The Life of Pablo" was released and agreed to him using it on the song. But once the album was released and The Grammys came around, Swift publically denied ever giving Kanye the go-ahead to use the lyric.
A rep for Swift said, "Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that bitch famous.’"
Following Swift's Grammy response and response from her rep, Kim Kardashian stood by her husband's side and said Swift did agree to the lyric.
Now, Kim gets the last laugh after she posted video of Swift on the phone with Kanye, agreeing to Kanye's use of the lyric.
“It’s like a compliment kind of,” Swift says after hearing the "Famous" lyric. “Go with whatever line you think is better. It’s obviously very tongue in cheek either way,” she adds. “I really appreciate you telling me about it! That’s really nice.”
Throughout the videos, Kanye calls Swift a "friend" and said he felt a "responsibility" to ask for permission.
“You gotta tell the story like the way it happened to you and the way you experienced it, like you honestly didn’t know who I was before that,” Taylor adds. “It doesn’t matter if I sold seven million off that album before you did that, which is what happened. You didn’t know who I was before that, that’s fine.”
