"Uncharted 4" actor Troy Baker has several DLC ideas for the game's single-player campaign, and its developers at Naughty Dog are apparently just as torn about how to proceed.
The news comes to Design & Trend via Twinifinite's recent chat with Baker. After his debut performance as Sam Drake, the vocal talent discussed the franchise and his thoughts on the industry.
His insight was most intriguing, however, with regard to DLC. "After playing the game, I find myself really torn because a part of me wants [to see] what Sam and Sully are going to do," he admitted. Allusions were also made to Nathan and Elena's daughter, as well as the past brotherly adventures of Nate and Sam. Both avenues are ripe for single-player content as expansions or entirely new franchises. The character of young Sam particularly intrigues Baker "We jumped from them being in the orphanage to the prison - I want to know what happened during that whole space in between," the actor pleaded.
Unfortunately, however, it looks like even Naughty Dog doesn't know which path the expanded narrative should take. "They're still batting about ideas." Troy revealed. "I don't think they've even landed on one. Those guys are still recuperating from shipping that game." It was added that giving the studio the necessary time to settle on an idea has almost always been the right decision in the past.
In addition to talking about his time on "Uncharted 4," the full interview teases Baker's future work on the Telltale Games "Batman" series and offers his personal views on the current controversy over game actor compensation. In contrast with some of his peers, Baker didn't express any personal demand for pay bonuses related to copies sold. "Maybe they should ask on an individual level as opposed to making demands as an industry that would literally crumble if that happened," he mused.
The prospect of single-player DLC was first revealed by Sony and Naughty Dog shortly after "Uncharted 4" launched at the beginning of May. Its inclusion was inspired by the critical and public acclaim of the "Last Of Us: Left Behind" expansion. At the time of its reveal, the studio said that planning had just begun so that it wouldn't interfere with the base game's development. A few months removed, it doesn't appear that much has changed.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is available now on PS4.
