In addition to the supernatural threats that Scott (Tyler Posey) is going to face when "Teen Wolf" season 6 premieres this fall, the True Alpha has another dilemma to deal with.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jeff Davis revealed that Scott will spend some time next season thinking whether he can leave Beacon Hills after he graduates from high school.

"They're on the verge of graduation and it's a big thing for them," Davis said. "It's especially a big thing for Scott who is worried about how he can leave Beacon Hills: Is he going to be passing the mantle on to Liam [Dylan Sprayberry] who isn't yet an alpha but desperately wants to start acting like one?"

According to Posey, a big chunk of the new installment will be about this internal conflict. "A huge part of the season is Scott potentially taking off at a certain point and not being the protector of Beacon Hills anymore," the 24-year-old actor said. "And that's really weighing on him because he loves his town and he loves his friends and family but he knows he has to move on."

"There's this conflict where he wants to leave but doesn't want the town to explode, so he wants to make sure that when he's gone, there's people there to take care of Beacon Hills for him," Posey continued. "So he's not recruiting like a little army but he's making sure the pack is as strong and stable as possible before he takes off -- Liam, specifically. He wants to make sure that Liam can take the wheel."

Davis told MTV News last March that "Liam will be accelerating toward the idea of becoming an alpha [in season 6] and possibly becoming the leader of the pack when Scott leaves [for college]."

This passing-the-baton scenario shouldn't come as a surprise to fans as it seems that this has always been Davis' plan for the series. Last August, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he would like to see "Dylan Sprayberry take over the role of the 'Teen Wolf' and see Tyler Posey move into more of a Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin) role."
