Rumors have been swirling lately over whether Jared Leto's Joker will appear in "Justice League," the 2017 DC Comics film that will see Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and others team up to defeat an enemy.

At the end of June, Leto tweeted that he was in London, which is where "Justice League" is currently shooting.

Now the Oscar winning actor has posted a photo of himself in character as the Joker. There's no mention of when the photo was taken.

Leto will be playing the iconic villain in "Suicide Squad," in theaters on Aug. 5, 2016, so maybe this photo is in honor of that release. However, with speculation ramping up that he will star in "Justice League," this photo only adds fuel to the fire among fans.

Speaking of the set, photographer Clay Enos shared a photo of director Zack Snyder looking through a camera lens on the set of "Justice League."

Snyder is currently promoting "Suicide Squad," which he executive produced.

These might be the only teasers we get for a while since IGN is reporting that "Justice League" will not be featured at this year's Comic-Con, the annual convention that showcases TV shows, movies and comics. Some cast members will be there to promote other DC films, so maybe there will be some surprises in store.

While we don't know too many details about "Justice League" just yet, we've known since March that J.K. Simmons will play Commissioner Gordon.

Simmons' personal trainer recently shared photos of the actor working out. Many assumed he was doing this to prepare for the movie.

That's not the case, according to Simmons.

"The going to the gym, honestly, had nothing to do with Commissioner Gordon. I've just been going to the gym off and on my whole life. But the last five or six years, I've been trying to just stay pretty dedicated and fight Father Time, and not to turn into a fat piece of poo again," he told "Entertainment Tonight."

Simmons also gave some insight into his character and explained that his role isn't that big in the first movie.

He said, "In the comics, [Gordon's] a pretty tough guy. He's not just this comic relief. In the first film that we're currently shooting, my part is not as big as -- knock wood -- it will be in some of the future films. ... But the plan is that there will be more Commissioner Gordon in the future. And I have absolutely no idea, zero idea, but I'm lobbying right now: let Commissioner Gordon be a badass."

"Justice League" will be in theaters on Nov. 17, 2017, with a sequel set to be released on June 14, 2019.
