If you're a TDE fan and love the record label's roster and music, then you're probably incredibly excited about the possibility of a Black Hippy album, from the group that consists of Schoolboy Q, Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock and Ab Soul.
Well, just to be on the safe side, you might not want to get your hopes up too high, because there's a good chance that project will never see the light of day. Why? Because the group members are just far too busy.
"It would be hard for a Black Hippy album to happen," said Schoolboy Q in an interview with Hot 97. "Because when we first started, we were all in the studio together, but now we're so busy. The only time we really kick it is in the studio."
Q then went on to say that since the four members of the group see each other so infrequently these days, they spend all of their time in the studio catching up instead of recording.
"We be wasting like thousands of dollars in the studio," he admitted. "It probably took us forever just to do [Jay Rock's] 'Vice City' ... Now we done talked for 10 hours, we don't want to rap no more. It's like let's just get another session."
Back in March of this year, TDE's president Punch said something similar about the chances of a Black Hippy album happening and said everybody will just have to block out their schedules.
"Everybody has their individual careers, so it's tough to find the time for everybody to get back together," he explained. "We're really just going to have to block out a couple of months or however long and just lock everybody in the studio like the old days."
