Nick Zano has been cast for a series regular role in the upcoming season 2 of "Legends of Tomorrow."
Zano, who played Arthur on the now-cancelled Fox series "Minority Report," will portray Dr. Nate Heywood in the sophomore run of the "Arrow" - "The Flash" spinoff series. According to Deadline, Heywood is a historian and a grandchild of Commander Steel, a member of the Justice Society of America.
Although Nate becomes Steel/Citizen Steel -- a former member of the Justice League of America -- in the comics, the producers of the CW series won't confirm whether Nate will eventually follow his grandfather's footsteps as a super hero.
The original Steel in the comics is Commander Steel, a.k.a. Henry Heywood. The character was introduced back in 1978. The second Steel is Commander Steel's grandson Hank Heywood III, who was introduced in 1984 as a member of the Justice League who was eventually killed off. In 2007, DC Comics introduced the third Steel, Nate, who is also a grandson of the original.
In the comics, Nate is an ex-college football player who broke his knee and became addicted to painkillers. He eventually turned into a being made of "living steel" and referred to himself as Citizen Steel.

In addition to Nate, an earlier version of Vixen -- who may or may not share some sort of historical tie to Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke) -- is also joining the show as a series regular next season.
"The composition of the team is going to change; there will be some new faces on the Waverider [in season 2]," series executive producer Marc Guggenheim told Deadline last month. "The season [1] finale planted some very significant flags in terms of what the new concept of the show will be in season 2. The team's mission statement for season 2 is more compelling than season 1, and at the same time, it is more streamlined. It's a little bit higher concept, a very clean notion that will allow the show to do things that it does best."
