"Injustice 2" director Ed Boon has confirmed that fans should expect more DLC characters for the game as NetherRealm Studios plans to take a "more aggressive" approach.
"One of the things we've been doing, trying to do more and more with every game... is to support it for a longer period of time," Boon told IGN. "With DLC characters, we've had four with 'Mortal Kombat', six with 'Injustice', eight with 'Mortal Kombat X', and with 'Injustice 2' we plan on continuing that pattern."
Boon also stated that their DLC strategy for "Injustice 2" will be "more aggressive" than they've ever been in the past.
Boon didn't go into detail about the characters that will be part of NetherRealm's DLC strategy nor did he announce any new characters that will be joining the roster.
As of now, the cast of "Injustice 2" that have already been revealed are Batman, Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd.
NetherRealm, the studio behind "Injustice" and "Injustice 2," promised that the game will have a "massive roster" of superheroes and villains, according to GameSpot.
Aside from teasing additional playable characters, Boon didn't divulge whether or not they are planning on post-launch support like additional stages.
The director did, however, speak about the upcoming game's new gear system, which allows users to customize their characters.
Boon hinted that NetherRealm are considering to place a pay-to-unlock system in order to get as many players as possible.
This strategy is ideally for players who may not have the time to spend on trying to unlock rewards.
Boon said that they haven't finalized the decision to add the paid unlock system yet, but he teased that they already have this under consideration.
"Ideally to me the whole purpose of this feature is customization, longevity and ongoing molding of your character so to speak," Boon added.
"Injustice 2" is scheduled to be released sometime in 2017 and will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
