'Person Of Interest' Season 5 Spoilers: Shaw To Get Revenge For Roots' Death In Emotional Finale

"Person of Interest's" season 5 finale will be one emotional and bloody rollercoaster ride for Team Machine.

Finch (Michael Emerson) and the rest of the team continue their efforts to bring down Samaritan in the last episode of the CBS series, titled "Return 0."

The fight will result to a lot of casualties, as was already previewed in the penultimate episode, but there's one death that fans will probably not mind seeing: the death of Roots' (Amy Acker) killer.

TV Line's Matt Mitovich recently shared some spoilers about the series, revealing that Shaw (Sarah Shahi) may finally get her revenge during the finale for the death of her girlfriend. He also warned fans that there will be several tearjerking moments in "Retun 0."

"If you've wondered how Shaw would react upon meeting the person whose bullet felled Root, you will get that face-off, while all told there are about two to three Kleenex moments," Mitovich wrote.

"Person of Interest" executive producer John Nolan opened up about Shaw and revealed during an interview with the publication that he and his team have been planning to give the show a satisfying ending from the beginning.

"There have been points along the way where we've adapted, changed course, incorporated new things - Shaw was a character that we hadn't fully conceived of when we started the show - but this is the end that we always talked about, the end that's indicated in the pilot," said the exec, referring to Finch's proclamations of doom earlier on in the series.

The execs and stars of the series also warned fans of the upcoming bloodbath in the finale episode where many of Team Machine won't survive the final showdown against Samaritan, despite rumors of a possible spinoff.

After CBS cancelled the series last month, the EPs have been teasing a possible spinoff and even laid the groundwork for it in "Synechdoche," but it looks like the stories of most of Team Machine members will come to an end in the season 5 finale.

"The ending, I thought, was really satisfying - and still ever so slightly open-ended, so that if someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing, or have a Chapter 2 of some sort, it wouldn't be out of the question. There are survivors ... [but] not many," Emerson told TV Guide.

"I think by the time the bloodbath of the finale is over you might have different thoughts," executive producer Greg Plageman told Deadline when asked about a spinoff or another season.
