Call Dr. Bill Masters because we have a new patient that needs him, stat! Showtime has cast "Being Erica" actress Erin Karpluk for a multi-episode arc in "Masters Of Sex" season 4, reports TVLine.
Karpluk will play Darleen Connolly, a patient who comes to see Dr. Bill Masters and his research partner Virginia Johnson when her sex life with her husband is in jeopardy. During Darleen's treatment, she realizes that her husband has had a foot fetish all these years.
"Masters Of Sex" season 4 will be set in 1968. As the season progresses, the series' time period will extend into the 1970s. The website stated that the characters will take on new partners, both professionally, personally and sexually.
Karpluk has also starred in "Life Unexpected" and "Rookie Blue." The actress shared news of her casting on Instagram.
To quickly recap the last time we saw "Masters Of Sex," Bill emerged a defeated man in the season 3 finale. Neighborhood bully Dennis' parents filed a lawsuit against the good doctor. The only way they would remove the charges would be if he gave them a fat check.
Things got much worse when it was revealed that Nora, an over-eager sex surrogate, was actually a Bible-loving fanatic. Masters gave Nora what he thought was rent money. However, she told the police that he paid her for sex. The prostitution charge was another criminal offense added to Masters' record.
To make matters even worse, Virginia left Bell for perfumer Dan Logan after he divorced his wife. The season 3 finale ended with a man from the publishing company Little, Brown and Company threatening to tell a horde of reporters that Bill has a preference for little boys if he and Virginia didn't show up in half an hour.
What will a battered Bill do now?
"Masters Of Sex" season 4 premieres Sunday, Sept. 11, at 10 p.m. EST on Showtime.
