Considering Kanye West is such a polarizing figure these days, is it of benefit to have his name attached to your song or a disadvantage?
That could be what TDE head Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith has been asking himself, because Schoolboy Q's new single"That Part," which features Ye, isn't selling that well at all.
In fact, it sold 26,000 units, which are certainly respectable numbers for most artists but not one with the track record and mainstream presence that Q has. Plus, he has 1.68 million Twitter followers, not to mention TDE has a lot of followers too.
"Bought Q single?" asked Top Dawg. "We have over 11 million followers, and his single sold 26k the first week. Ya'll beg for it. Explain that support to me."
Top also disputed one person's opinion that the low sales are attached to the way people consume music nowadays, which is mostly streaming.
"[Go] look at the charts," he wrote. "A lot of people buy music. Ya'll have to really support these records ya'll keep asking for."
Q hasn't said anything about the seeming lack of support, and hopefully Top's message will wake a few fans up.
I'm ______ at y'all excuses.... Now stop cursing me out about releasing music lol
