Memorial Day weekend is here, where the nation collectively honors those in the United States military, who devoted their time, energy and in many cases their lives to serve and protect their country.

Plus, a lot of people consider this weekend the summer's unofficial kickoff and for very good reason.

It's when many of the public swimming pools open, it's when high school seniors start seeing that graduation light at the end of the tunnel and it's when most of us let our guard down as far as the weather goes and trust that it'll remain warm.

Memorial Day weekend is also when a lot of folks dust off that outdoor grill and fire it up for the very first time all season.

Of course, that's excluding the Floridians and many of the West Coasters, who have the privilege of perpetual sunshine and toasty temperatures all year around.

So if you're having a cookout this weekend — or a barbecue, whatever you want to call it — add these 10 rap songs to your playlist. They'll all make you feel incredibly good, and they'll add even more fun to your gathering of food and friends.

1. "Good Life" Kanye West Featuring T-Pain

Whether you're having a cookout or a big old bash, this song always gets things going.

2. "Let The Beat Build" Lil Wayne

The groovy track, Tunechi's playful vocal delivery and the looped soul sample makes this cut perfect for any cookout or barbecue.

3. "Everything Is Everything" Lauryn Hill

A lot of people continue to be upset with the former Fugee for arriving late to so many shows, but most will probably forgive her just because she made "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" album, which includes this particular gem.

4. "Weston Road Flows" Drake

If there was ever a song that just sounds like it was made for a summertime backyard gathering it's this one.

5. "What Ya'll Want" Eve

Ruff Ryders' First Lady made a timeless tune that'll always get heads bopping, feet moving and the party jumping.

6. "Summer Time" DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

A little predictable? Maybe but it's a cookout classic. We'd be dead-wrong if we didn't include it.

7. "In Remembrance Of Me" Blu And Exile

A classic cut, from a classic album, delivered by a classic MC, who should be getting way more attention.

8. "Sucker MCs" Run-D.M.C.

What's a barbecue without a little music from the fellas from Hollis, Queens, and this one is certainly one of their most well-known.

9. "Freedom" Beyoncé, Featuring Kendrick Lamar

Beyoncé may walk the line of R&B and pop, but she dropped a straight up hip-hop song with "Freedom," and you can thank K. Dot and producer Just Blaze for that.

10."Hip-Hop Hooray" Naughty By Nature"

Every good cookout playlist needs a stellar call-and-response kind of song and why not use one of the best in Naughty's "Hip-Hop Hooray?"
