'Once Upon A Time' Season 5 Finale Spoilers: EPs Tease 'Very Emotional' Ep 21, Potential Death [WATCH]

"Once Upon a Time" season 5's finale episode may see yet another Storybrooke resident's death.

ABC recently dropped the promo for this Sunday's episode of "Once Upon a Time" season 5, which showed Emma, Regina and the rest of Storybrooke gathering together for a funeral.

The episode "Last Rites," which will be the last episode before "Once Upon a Time's" two-part finale on May 15, did not reveal whose funeral it was, but according to show co-creator Eddy Kitsis, fans should anticipate the upcoming episode.

“Everyone should be frightened," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Emotions will run the gamut. Everyone will be affected by whatever happens, and it will set people on different paths for the finale," co-creator Adam Horowitz added.

The EP did not confirm if indeed someone dies in the episode and if this person is one of the major characters, but he did say that the episode will be "very emotional" and "may break a few hearts."

When the publication asked KItsis and Horowitz about the possible death in the upcoming episode, the latter said, “we’ll know where we’re standing with living and dying characters” by the end of "Last Rites."

And while it probably won't be the biggest death in the show's history, Horowitz described the upcoming one as an “impactful, important piece of the storytelling going forward.”

"Once Upon a Time" season 5, episode 21 will be the "finale to the Hades arc," the EPs confirmed.

Meanwhile, the show's May 15 two-part finale, titled "Only You" and "An Untold Story," will "really set up next season."

"Once Upon a Time" season 5's finale episodes will also introduce two new characters who will be played by Sam Witwer and Hank Harris.

The EPs previously spoke about the new characters to be introduced in the finale, with Kitsis confirming to Entertainment Weekly that they are "not the Brothers Grimm."

"What's fun about those two characters is very similar to season 1, when we didn't know who Graham was, and we were guessing sometimes what character they are. The finale will work much like that, in that the question of who these two are will be part of what the story is," Kitsis told the publication.

"Sam and Hank play characters who play a pivotal role in the season finale. Where they're from, who they are, and what they're doing does tee up an element of what we're doing for season 6. It's more like opening a door, rather than introducing the whole of what season 6 will be. Hopefully we're giving you a little taste of what's to come," Horowitz added.
