Since the reveal of watchOS for the Apple Watch and the tvOS for the latest Apple TV, speculations of changing the name of Macs' OS X began circulating.
Now, it seems that Apple will be changing the name of the OS X operating system to MacOS.
In an updated Webpage of Apple's product life cycle assessment, it referred to devices running tvOS, iOS, watchOS and MacOS; OS X is not mentioned on the page, as noted by 9To5Mac.
As of writing, It seems that the Webpage has already been edited, and "MacOS" has been replaced by "OS X." Perhaps, Apple may have accidentally leaked the upcoming rebrand.
Last month, the MacOS naming scheme was first discovered on the OS X 10.1.4 framework which further solidified people's previous speculations.
The term MacOS has been used only by developers for convenience, but this is the first time that the company used the term themselves.
This is being considered as the conclusive evidence that the name change is truly coming.
Looking at the tech giant's lineup of products, it makes perfect sense that it would rebrand OS X.
Adopting the naming scheme would make it easier for all consumers to understand that these products are from Apple and that they would function easily side-by-side.
The only thing that's not clear at the moment is whether the company will be sticking to its current California landmark names, as pointed out by MacRumors.
El Capitan, the current identifier for the latest version of OS X, is a rock formation found in the Yosemite National Park in Mariposa County, California.
It is being speculated that Apple will officially announce the rebrand as soon as this coming June during the company's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
Apple's WWDC is usually where the company announces a major update to the OS X, which makes it a perfect time to also announce its new name.
It's been rumored previously that Apple is planning to bring Siri to Mac computers. The virtual assistant is present on iOS, tvOS and watchOS.
If Apple is indeed bringing Siri to Macs this year, the name change for OS X would really be apt.
In other Apple related news, the company is said to have formed a secret team made up of around 100 employees to bring changes to the App Store, according to Bloomberg.
The team will be responsible for making it easier for users to browse apps and games on the store and introduce paid searches for developers.
