"The Walking Dead" alum Sarah Wayne Callies has shared her thoughts about Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne's (Danai Gurira) romantic relationship.
Callies said that Rick's departed wife, Lori, would approve the new romance.
"I will say that whoever it is in terms of who Rick is hooked up with, I think Lori only wants him to be happy," the 38-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter of her character who was killed off in the season 3 of the show. "They went through so much together. And they'll always be connected, because they have children together [Chandler Riggs' Carl and baby Judith]. If Rick's happy, then Lori's happy. That's what matters."
Callies, who currently stars as Katie Bowman on USA Network's "Colony," also explained why she thinks Rick and Michonne are drawn together.
"Andy used to describe Rick like a shark: unable to sit still, always in motion. That was his explanation for constantly leaving his wife and son," the "Prison Break" alum said. "In a non-apocalyptic world, you would say, 'Until you can sit in one place and be with the people you love and the people who love you, you're never going to be happy.' But the world is an apocalypse. I don't know much about Michonne's character, but it seems to me that she's a warrior. Maybe what Rick needs is the idea that he doesn't have to constantly run away from a family that needs him too much. Instead, he can trust somebody who is every bit as capable as he is. Maybe there's peace in that."

Lincoln previously told The Hollywood Reporter that he "loved" the twist on Rick and Michonne's relationship, although he admitted that taking their bond to the next level was a "strange experience."
"We've been playing a certain complicated, difficult, respectful and loving almost familial relationship. And to step through the portal into this new place was really trippy," the 42-year-old British actor said.
While Lincoln was quite surprised when Rick and Michonne's platonic relationship turned romantic, Gurira had an inkling that producers were heading in an intimate direction with the characters.
"It made sense to me since the "Clear" episode," Gurira told The Hollywood Reporter, "I remember chatting about it for the first time with [current showrunner Scott] Gimple, but, back then it wasn't his call [he wrote the episode under then-boss Glen Mazzara]."
"But when I read it I was still kind of surprised," Gurira told Variety. "There was something surprising seeing those names on the page doing that. Seeing it in writing was like, 'Whoaaaa!' I was kind of thrown."
