Simon Cowell has confirmed that fans can expect more solo projects from the members of One Direction.

While at NBC's "America's Got Talent" season 11 kickoff in Pasadena, Calif., on Thursday, March 3, Cowell was asked by E! News if there's more solo projects for Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan coming up. And the music mogul answered: "Yeah, there will be more, I'm absolutely sure of that."

Cowell then went on to commend the boys for their hard work over the past five years and insisted that they really deserved their extended hiatus.

"Well, it was always going to come," he said of the band's break. "You can't work at that level; the way they did. I mean lots of things are going to be announced over the next few months, but they were, are, the nicest people, you know, to work with."

"[They're] hardworking. [They] appreciate everything, so it won't be the end," Cowell added of the British singing heartthrobs.

Cowell also had some kind words for former One Direction member Zayn Malik, who left the band in March 2015.

"We were involved with what label he went on, and he's still signed to our company," Cowell said of the "Pillowtalk" singer. "He's done fantastic, and he's showing that he's a great vocalist and very talented."

While Cowell has already been singing praises about Malik, the "America's Got Talent" judge recently slammed the RCA Records solo artist after the latter made some "rude" comments about the band in the December 2015 and January 2016 issue of The Fader.

In his cover story, Malik claimed that he didn't have any creative freedom during his stay in the band, and that's one of the reasons he decided to leave the group.

"There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band," the crooner told the magazine. "If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as fuck, so they could use that version. Whenever I would suggest something, it was like it didn't fit us."

Cowell, however, insisted that there's democracy in the band.

"I think once [Zayn] has had a chance to reflect on everything, he will probably reconsider what he's said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band," Cowell -- who mentored the band while they were competing on "The X Factor UK" -- said (via The Mirror).

He also added that Malik's comments about 1D's music were "a bit rude" not only to the people who wrote songs with them, but also to the remaining members of the band.
