The character who was responsible for Mike's (Patrick J. Adams) arrest was finally revealed in this week's episode of "Suits," and it's someone who actually didn't know Mike's secret long before.

After discovering that Gibbs (Leslie Hope) had received an anonymous letter from a general Harvard faculty email address, Mike and Harvey (Gabriel Macht) immediately thought that it was Gerard (Stephen Macht). But when Louis (Rick Hoffman) read the email, he knew that it was not Gerard but his ex-fiancée Sheila (Rachael Harris).

Sheila figured out that Mike didn't actually go to Harvard when she was approached for an article following Mike's promotion at Pearson Specter Litt. At the end of the episode, it was revealed that it was Gretchen (Aloma Wright) who proposed the article.

In a number of interviews following the airing of the episode, series creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh explained how he landed on Sheila.

"I didn't want to have someone who had good reason to turn him in, like [for] revenge or some ulterior motive," Korsh told TVLine. "I specifically wanted someone [whose] only reason was it was the right thing to do. Many of the ideas the writers had of who did it, ultimately, were people doing it for some selfish or personal gain."

"Most of the staff wanted it to be Logan Sanders (Brendan Hines) to get back at Mike, or there was a thought of Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) or Laura Zane (Megan Gallagher), which didn't seem feasible," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "[But] if they found out Mike was a fraud they would threaten to expose him if he didn't break up with their daughter rather than just expose him. But the big thing was that in the past, everyone who has found out (with slight exceptions), used the information for some sort of personal gain or they let him off the hook for some reason."

"[So this time,] I wanted Mike to be caught because someone found out and just did the right thing," Korsh told TV Guide. "They didn't do it to get personal gain, they didn't do it for revenge, they didn't do it to make sure their daughter wouldn't marry someone. They didn't use it for their own ends. That's why I wanted to land on Sheila."

Korsh pointed out that Sheila did not hand Mike in to hurt her ex-fiancée Louis. "Sheila just found out he didn't go to Harvard and told someone. She just did it because it was the right thing to do. She didn't do it to hurt Louis. She didn't even think Louis would care. She would think Louis would like that," Korsh noted. "She's just doing it because a crime has been committed and she's reporting it. She was the perfect choice."
