"Scandal" season 5 cast member Bellamy Young recently talked about Mellie Grant's aspirations to become the next president of the United States.

At the moment, Mellie's estranged husband President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is still sitting on the presidential throne.

However, Mellie will make sure to take the seat from him in the next couple of months.

In the teaser released by ABC for episode 10, Mellie was featured asking Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) if she could run her campaign.

However, Olivia said that she couldn't team up with Mellie. This does not mean though that her decision cannot change in the upcoming episodes.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Young revealed that Mellie's presidential challengers from both the Republicans and the Democrats will be named in the midseason premiere.

"It's an amazing field of candidates. I cannot wait for everybody to see some new and old faces. Some folks will be a surprise, some folks will be folks you know very, very well, and some folks you may not have seen in a minute. It's good and juicy," she said.

Meanwhile, "Scandal" season 5 will also feature a six-month time-jump. This means that most of the characters have already moved on from the events that took place in the fall finale episode.

At the time, Olivia decided to get an abortion, and she also ended her relationship with President Fitz.

In the teaser released by ABC for "Scandal" season 5, episode 10, Olivia could be seen hooking up with Jake Ballard (Scott Foley).

As of late, it is unclear whether or not Olivia will get into a relationship with Jake or she's simply keeping her mind preoccupied.

"Scandal" season 5 will also see President Fitz feeling very alone especially now that he no longer has Olivia, Mellie and even Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) in his corner.

"Scandal" season 5, episode 10 will air on ABC on Feb. 11 at 9 p.m. ET.
