1. Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch

The estate, which was originally built in 1982 by Robert Altevers, was listed on the market for $100 million this year. The 12,000-square-foot main house features six bedrooms, cedar walk-in closets, formal interiors, several fireplaces and even a hidden safe room.

The property also includes a four-bedroom guesthouse, a two-bedroom guesthouse, a swimming pool, barbecue area, basketball court, tennis court, 50-seater movie theater and a four-acre lake. Other structures include barns, animal shelters, corrals and a maintenance shop. Michael Jackson's Neverland returned to its original name, Sycamore Valley Ranch, and is still listed on the market for $100 million.

2. Johnny Depp's French Village 

In 2001, Johnny Depp purchased an entire French village located just 17 miles north of St. Tropez. At the time, it consisted of 12 original structures from the 1800s, spanning 37 acres near the village of Plan-de-La-Tour.

Since then, Depp has spent millions in renovations, completely redecorating each building himself. The 10,760-square-foot property features 12 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a main house, guest cottages, a chapel, bar and restaurant, a workshop and a staff house. There is even a wine cellar, skatepark and two swimming pools.

It took Depp over 15 years to complete the ancient stone village, which was listed for $25.76 million. The village sold for $25 million this year.

3. Bob Hope's UFO House

Located in Palm Springs, Calif., the UFO House was originally built by John Lautner in 1973. Owned by Bob and Dolores Hope, this massive estate known as the volcano or spaceship house is 23,000 square feet. The structure features open spaces in the walls and ceiling, which allows plenty of daylight and moonlight to illuminate the rooms. The home includes six bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, indoor and outdoor pools, a pond and putting green, as well as a tennis court.

The listing has dropped from $50 million to $25 million and is currently still on the market.

This property was also the location for the Louis Vuitton presentation of the Cruise '16 collection.

4. Bing Crosby Home

Avid golfer Bing Crosby chose to build his home in Rancho Mirage for its 12 golf courses. Located in Thunderbird Heights, the ranch-style home was originally built in 1957 for indoor-outdoor living. The 6,700-square-foot house rests on 1.36 acres and features six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

The property also includes a casita with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and a full kitchen. The home has been completely renovated and is currently listed for $5 million.

5. President Obama's Vacation Home

The Obama family often frequents their vacation home in Martha's Vineyard each year. The private compound is located on Chilmark Pond with stunning views of the pond and beach. The home was originally built in 1961 and was redesigned in 2006 by architect Rick Sundberg and landscape architect Steve Stimson.

The contemporary-style home rests on 10 acres and features six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a half basketball court, home gym, an infinity pool and a private boat dock. The property was originally listed at $22.5 million, but the price has been reduced to $19.125 million.

6. Lauren Bacall's Central Park Apartment

Central Park West's "The Dakota" is one of New York City's most sought-after residential addresses. The building's architectural details reference the French Renaissance, German Gothic and English Victorian time periods, which feature steep-pitched roofs, dormers, moldings, balconies and pavilions.

The Dakota has been home to several of the world's most powerful business owners, sports athletes and movie stars. One of the most famous is actress Lauren Bacall, who originally purchased the apartment in 1961 for $48,000 and occupied the space for 53 years.

The apartment features nine rooms, three bedrooms, four bathrooms and a view of Central Park. Its interior still includes 19th century details such as 13-foot ceilings, pocket doots, shutter-framed windows, an original butler's pantry and hardwood flooring.

The property was originally listed for $26 million and was recently sold for $21 million.

The Dakota was also home to John Lennon, and Mark David Chapman actually shot Lennon in the building's entrance.

7. Jeff Bridges' Montecito Estate

Actor Jeff Bridges is selling his 19.5-acre Tuscan-style family estate in Montecito, Calif. Bridges originally purchased the property from Kenny Loggins in 1994. The 9,593-square-foot main house features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, large formal rooms, a grand hall and banks of French doors opening to several terraces.

The property also includes a caretaker's cottage, a detached auxiliary garage, a pool house, a guesthouse, a large theater and a wine cellar. The home is currently available and on the market for $29.5 million.

8. Tyler Perry's Atlanta Home

Filmmaker Tyler Perry has bought and sold real estate across the U.S. and is currently selling his Atlanta mansion. The French provincial mansion rests atop 15 acres in the upscale Buckhead neighborhood, where residents have a perfect view of the Chattahoochee River.

The 34,688-square-foot home features seven bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, a two-storey library, an infinity pool,  a tennis court, two-storey parking garage, home gym, spa, theater, hobby house, an underground ballroom and catering kitchen.

The property also includes a formal and informal garden area, guardhouse, caretaker's suite, presidential-level security system and two gated and secured residential entrances. The lavish Atlanta estate is currently on the market for $25 million.

9. Danny Thomas Mansion

Nightclub comedian Danny Thomas purchased property in Beverly Hills' Trousdale Estates in the late '60s. In 1970, Thomas built a Moorish-inspired mansion featuring eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The 18,000-square-foot property offers 360-degree views of Los Angeles.

After his deal in '91, the family sold the property for $5.764 million in 2012.

The estate's current owner put the property back on the market for $135 million this year after it underwent a complete restoration.

10. Miley Cryus's Tuscan Mansion

Miley Cyrus spent most of her Disney years living in her family's home in Toluca Lake, Calif. The Tuscan-style, gated property is completely bordered by trees and hedging. Originally built in 2007 by architect Bob Easton, the 8,700-square-foot home rests on almost one acre and features six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

The house includes a chef's kitchen, home theatre, outdoor entertainment area with a fireplace and a state-of-the-art security system. The home was listed at $5.995 million and was sold at asking price.
