"Five Nights At Freddy's" creator Scott Cawthon has revealed the name of his upcoming novel to be released on Dec. 22. The title offers clues to the plot of the book and the game series it's based on.
The news comes to Design & Trend via a brand new teaser image on the Scott Games official website. In contrast to the "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Untold Story" namesake that was announced last week, the actual title of the book will be "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes."
For those that missed our initial post on the subject "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes." is a novel written by Cawthon that dives deeper into the lore of his popular games franchise. In the author's own words, the unexpected project will "expand the mythos and reveal a human element never before seen in the games."
While nothing has been confirmed, this tease seems to suggest that "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes." will illuminate the backstory of the franchise's human characters that don't yet have one. The horror plot tells the story of a so-called Purple Man that murders a group of children at a family-friendly restaurant called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Maybe the book will outline the reasons for the killer's actions.
There's also the matter of the child character featured in "Five Nights At Freddy's 4." Players still don't know precisely how he connects to the narrative and how he relates to the Purple Man.
As far as silver eyes are concerned, the significance isn't quite clear. Some fans note that the game's Springtrap character, inhabited by the Purple Man, has silver eyes. Others have said that the Puppet's black eyes with white pupils may be a clue. A common theory is that the Puppet is the spirit of the "Five Nights At Freddy's 4" child.
In the absence of such facts, the "Five Nights At Freddy's" community has spent months trying to figure out the meaning behind the series since its fourth-entry finale. The main hope among franchise fans is that this text will provide concrete clues that lead to established answers.
Regardless of what it contains, Scott has also said that the book will initially be available in Kindle digital format a week from today. Those that don't want to be tied down to Amazon's store can purchase a physical, hardcover copy sometime next year.
It should be noted that, just because "Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes." launches on Kindle, that doesn't mean a Kindle tablet is required to read it. In fact, Kindle apps exist on Amazon products as well as iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices. There's even a web browser version of the app that allows Kindle content to be read on any computer in the world. In that sense, short of not wanting to spend the money, there are few barriers barring consumers from knowing the truth as soon as it's released.
"Five Nights At Freddy's: The Silver Eyes." is expected to come to Kindle on Dec. 22. Physical copies will release in 2016.
