The world's first-ever fully automated, coin-operated car vending machine, Carvana, is launching today in Nashville, Tenn.
"Carvana created the original car vending machine concept in Atlanta in 2013, and we've spent the last two years taking this experience to a whole new level. Our new vending machine is a state-of-the-art, multi-story structure that delivers our customer's cars by merely inserting a custom coin," stated Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana.
The company's mission is to create a one-of-a-kind way to buy a car online. The vending machine facility is a strikingly designed glass building with a five-story tower that stores up to 20 vehicles.
When customers go to the location to pick up their car, the kiosk inside the vending machine will list the customer's name and ask for a Carvana branded coin, which is delivered in the mail and is the key to initiating the vending process.
The car is automatically retrieved from the tower, and the customer is able to take the vehicle for a seven day test ownership period. As a bonus, each Carvana vehicle comes with a personalized video of their one-of-a-kind vending machine experience that they can share on social media.
The Carvana Nashville vending machine is located at 4270 Kenilwood Dr. and is open from Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST.
If you are not in Nashville, Carvana will subsidize $200 in airfare and arrange white glove transporation from the Nashville airport for customers wanting to pick up their car at the vending machine.
