Gucci recently announced the opening of the label's first restaurant, 1921Gucci Café, offering a full-service luxury dining destination in Shanghai.
Gucci is not the only fashion house to enter the restaurant scene. With the realization of both Armani's Fifth Avenue hotspot and Ralph Lauren's Polo Bar, major fashion brands are tapping into the food business, and Gucci has officially approached the new venture.
The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of the IAPM shopping center on Huaihai Lu. 1921Gucci happens to only be accessible by the store's elevator that was installed specifically within the Gucci boutique.
According to Shanghaiist, the construction took two years to complete. 1921Gucci took its name from the year the Italian fashion house was founded and it is the brand's first official restaurant. There is a Gucci-themed café present in the Gucci museum in Florence, but it does not operate as a full-service restaurant.
1921Gucci primarily serves Italian dishes, with prices ranging from 150 yuan for lunch to 300 yuan for dinner. The environment is sophisticated and elegant, the interior is adorned in rich gold and velvet fabrications, and the seating is accented with pillows. And of course, the Gucci logo is stamped on the tableware and menus.
Next time you travel across the world, treat yourself to Shanghai's hottest new restaurant, 1921Gucci.
