Sometimes the most minimal approach can make the most impact. And this week we recognize one of those special cases.
As much as we love toying with various colors, we've currently found ourselves drawn to the monochromatic approach to dressing and decorating. By definition, monochromatic colors are all the colors of a single hue and for us that means we can experiment with a single base color's shades, tones and tints.
Though it may seem that you are limiting yourself by implementing one color into your lifestyle, in reality you aren't. One would be pleasantly surprised by the many possibilities offered by the range of designs that can create beautiful monochromatic color stories.
For this feature, the color brown is the foundation of our inspiration. We took things from Amazon's fashion and home furnishings departments to bring you select merchandise of brown shades and hues. When approaching design this way, the absence of mixing colors allows you to focus more on the design and materials of the products, insisting one to incorporate textures and styles to create contrast.
Similar to the woman who sparked our interest with a monochromatic fashion story, we combined materials like suede, cotton and leather apparel and accessories to boost the single-color streetwear look.
This same method was successful in our sourcing of Amazon home décor to bring complementary natural shades into a potential interior. We realized this by incorporating brown tones, ranging from beige to dark chocolate, of unique textures to add interest to the room.
It also helps to consider wall paint and flooring options to complete the desired monochromatic space!
