The vibrant installation for Salone del Mobile was inspired by the market of Bogotá, Colombia. The experience featured colors of exotic fruits, shapely sculptures made of interesting materials and it presented an assortment of decorative pieces that varied in sizes.

Marni's tropical setting was linked to the theme of Expo Milano 2015, combining inherent characteristics of the fashion brand into a home collection that displayed special edition woven chairs, stools, small tables and distinctive tablewares — symbolizing a taste of South American lifestyle.

Each exclusive product was handmade by a women's community in Colombia and was precisely curated for individuals to feel transported into the dynamic Colombian culture. Visitors were greeted with woven shopping bags, psychedelic objects were exhibited on and around long wooden tables, and the space drew individuals to view fruitful design displays both indoors and out.

The converted industrial showroom successfully represented details of a South American aesthetic with craftily placed tropical fruits of pomegranates, guanabanas, zapotes to beautifully woven baskets and exceptional furnishings in courageous color stories.

The Milan installation was extra special in its reaffirmation of Marni's dedication to charity initiatives — the proceeds from the sale will go to benefit Anayibe Rincon's Workshop — a workshop held by a group of women who have found their independence and emancipation through their craft.

Due to Marni's charitable acts in support of the social well-being of the women of Colombia, the Marni Mercado de Paloquemao project won the Best Impact prize of Milano Design Awards. This prize is an award given to the project with the most beneficial social, environmental and economic impact almongst all projects at Milan Design Week.
