On April 11, the Sotheby's Manhattan headquarters will be transforming their fifth floor exhibition space into a home.
The company's second annual Designer Showcase will be open to the public in New York until April 19, 2015, and will reveal the work of 13 interior designers and design firms.
The exhibition space will allow for each designer to design and curate their own individual room which will then be up for auction on April 20. From a bedroom and living room to a dining room and library, each interior will evoke each designer's unique aesthetic.
From classical to contemporary approaches, designers have selected close to 300 items from a wide assortment of product categories offered by Sotheby's that range in price and go up to $250,000.
The selected pieces from these product categories (which will be available for purchase during the auction), will feature English & Continental Furniture, 20th Century Design, Contemporary and Impressionist Prints, African and European Sculpture, Carpets, Old Master Paintings, Latin American Paintings and Ceramics and Silver.
Along with re-creating a space, the Showcase participants were asked to illustrate up to three sketches to convey their individual design directions for the rooms.
Sotheby's invites design and art enthusiasts to experience this exciting opportunity to view and bid on exclusive pieces as well as visit the interiors designed by some of today's most talented designers.
